Thanks Lincoln for the great video!
In your 1st Buddha at the Gas Pump Interview with Rick Archer you mentioned that you read many Taoist, Buddhist, and other books from different spiritual traditions. Thus, I’m sure you are familiar with what the ancient Taoists called the “Firing Process” which is actually the process of the effort be present. It is said to be present is easy (for a short time or few seconds), yet to “remain/maintain” present is very difficult because thoughts will come interrupting the presence/awareness. That’s why the ancient Taoists said that the “Firing Process” is the most difficult. There this question:
does it take attentive alertness to keep this Firing Process going? Does it take effort to develop this skill in such away that eventually this Firing Process becomes 2nd nature to oneself? Hopefully, you can make this clearer or another video from you about this “Firing Process” would be great and beneficial for humanity.
Thank you so much in advance, Lincoln for your response.

Blessings On Our Loving and Creative Ways,
    Ken

Hello Ken. Thank you for sharing your gratitude. There can be, and often are, different interpretations of the metaphors of Taoist scriptures. Taoist teachings heavily rely upon metaphor – in part to protect the teachings for those students who are awakened sufficiently to perceive the tangible reference of the literary imagery. The Fire of the Firing Process is most often used in different 2 ways by the 2 different groups of Taoist teachings.

First, as one of the 4 or 5 (number varies based on the system) elements. The 4 or 5 elements are located in the torso of the physical body and are experienced as the emotional energies of the psyche. These 4 or 5 elements are cultivated in the navel area (called the caldron) in an emotional/elemental purification process. During this process the personality will develop virtuous qualities and become free from “evil” qualities (selfishness, greed, jealousy, etc). Out of this process will arise a much stronger energy that is free from the energetic / emotional imbalances. This energy is felt as pure creative power. Indian yoga and tantra teachings call this energy Kundalini, Shakti or Agni.

Second, the firing process relates to the awakening of one’s awareness – the light of consciousness. As person purifies the mind and emotions through meditative concentration practices the awareness become stronger. When the awareness is directed within, an inner light can be perceived. This inner light (fire) is the beginning of the journey into realities beyond the physical human body and world.

There are 2 groupings of Taoist schools: one group that relies upon effort and extensive methods to work with the forms/bodies of one’s self – a type of energy alchemy; the second group relies upon wisdom teachings, effortlessness (wei wu wei) and the cultivate of increased awareness and inner silence. These 2 groupings can also be found in Indian and Tibetan spiritual schools since some rely upon intense effort and others dedicated effortlessness. The first description I shared is what is popular in the effort-based group. The second description is relevant to the effortless group.

My own experience is that there are many paths to the top of the mountain and many ways to awaken. It is important to not mix these 2 major groupings but instead choose one approach. Mixing different systems with markedly different approaches will increase the potential for confusion and slower growth. Progress would be most effective by choosing one system.

My own Higher Self teachings have unique set of practices and teachings. The teachings attempt to remove the secrecy of teachings and methods, and make clear and easy to apply genuine spiritual knowledge. The emphasis in my teachings is different than many other schools which you will learn by watching my videos.

I appreciate your invitation to create a video on this process. Now that your request has been received, it may be chosen by the Higher Self as a video teaching. Have a blessed day Ken.
